HAT OFF TO 2007 CANADIAN MASTERS CHAMP
Usually a person takes his or her hat off to an individual or team AFTER they have won a Championship – but Don Spriggs took his hat off and gave it to skip Bob Edmondson BEFORE he skipped his team to the 2007 Canadian Open Masters Championship last week at Glendale Golf and Country Club.
This happened just after the Oakville Curling Club team, representing Ontario, had lost their second game in the round robin competition – which meant they couldn’t afford to lose any more games. Bob asked Don, one of the organizers of the Championship, if he had something that might help his team’s fortunes in their next game. Without hesitation Don loaned Bob his favourite hat (from the Canadian Open Golf Tournament), which he got back six wins later after team Edmondson had captured this year’s Championship.
Obviously freezing a Canadian coin in the ice is not the only way to help a team’s fortunes.
